Backpack India / Our story

We came for the place.
We remember the people.

The idea is in our camera roll. Canyon walks, card nights, dinner at one table. We are building trips around the things that made travelling together feel easy.

Notes from the camera roll.

From setting off to a slow morning. Moments from Jordan and our other trips, and what we took from them.

  1. Wheels up

    First, you leave.

A window seat, a wing, a place still ahead of you. Coming solo starts here; being part of a group can start before you arrive.

  2. Road day

    The journey is time together.

A road day takes up real space in a trip. We want that time to count: names, games and a conversation with the person in the next seat.

  3. Petra, Jordan · Walking the Siq

    Walk at a human pace.

The Siq is a walk before it is a reveal. Travelling together should leave room to look up, stop and take in the canyon.

  4. Petra, Jordan · The Treasury

Leave room for the first look.

The canyon opens onto the Treasury. A shared route works best when there is time to stand still, rather than hurry everyone towards the next stop.

  5. Petra, Jordan · Above Petra

    Same place. Another perspective.

Petra looks different from above. A good group plan gives you a route without deciding every minute of how you experience it.

  6. Jordan · Sweet-shop stop

    Keep the small stops.

The sweet-shop stop belongs in the camera roll too. Food gives a group something simple to gather around, without an introduction game or a schedule.

  7. Long dinner

    One table changes the evening.

A long dinner puts everyone in the same conversation. It is why we look for stays with kitchens: eating together should be easy.

  8. Card night

Give people something to do together.

A pack of cards is a small invitation to join in. Find-the-impostor, mystery games and jamming take that idea onto our bus rides.

  9. Rooftop morning

And keep a morning for yourself.

A rooftop morning has a different pace from a night out. We want room for both, with free time that does not need the whole group to agree.

What we changed
because of it.

Small decisions that make coming solo less awkward. These are in the plan, before the bus leaves.

Chai break on a hilltop, India
India · Chai break on a hilltop

Start with a hello.

A warm meal and introductions on day one, so you know a few names before the first walk.

Card night

A ride without screens.

Find the impostor, solve a mystery, start a jam. Something shared beats everyone scrolling alone.

Dinner, night two
Dinner, night two

One long table.

Hostels with kitchens, so eating together is part of the stay. No splitting up just to find dinner.

Afternoon on the lawn
Afternoon on the lawn

Free time means yours.

A cafe, a walk or an afternoon doing very little. You do not need a group vote to take a break.
